Challenge
DIY aluminum gutter guards on this Branch, Michigan, home were the perfect hiding spot for debris from locust trees. Not only was all that buildup hard to look at, it also put the home at huge risk for water damage. Because these aluminum guards were flat, they essentially created a shelf with holes; and when gutters become clogged in these types of situations, all the overflow can lead to rotten soffits and fascia, a damaged foundation and a leaking basement.
Solution
To start solving this problem, we cleaned out all the existing gutters and downspouts by realigning, reflashing and resealing with a 50-year sealant. We also added hidden hangers for more strength and installed our patented, state-of-the-art Klean Gutter Leaf Guard.
