Challenge
With no gutters on this home, the sandy soil surrounding the foundation was beginning to wash away. Appropriate soil levels are very detrimental to a home, and if erosion is left unattended, it can cause rotting of the foundation and leaks in the basement. These are major and expensive damages, so avoiding them is critical to a homeowner’s time and budget.
Solution
Proper water management is not just about the gutters, but the type of guard you protect them with.
In this project, we installed 5″ seamless gutters. The process required us to align, flash and seal with 50-year sealant. Then, we secured the gutters with hidden hangers: (1) 2×3 second-story downspout in Clay with an extension to the first-story using (5) A elbows.
